October 23, 2024 9:00 am

The Bretton Woods Twins are celebrating their 80th birthday and they have a track record of contributions to look back upon. But now, climate change, financial instability, and geopolitical fragmentation pose new and unique challenges for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. These institutions are being called on to act in new and unfamiliar ways—from how they help countries deal with climate change-related shocks to the strategies they employ to preserve their effectiveness and legitimacy in the face of rising geopolitical and economic tensions. Join the Center for Global Development and ICRIER for a conversation featuring prominent thinkers and high-level former policymakers on how the World Bank and IMF can tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
