Pakistan wants to use more renewable energy sources but faces challenges in financing. The most tenable of the options under consideration is solar power. We used a GTAP-E-Power model to simulate policies that currently exist in the Pakistani government’s policies and estimate the investment requirements. In our consultations with public- and private- sector stakeholders, we also found that Multilateral Development Banks can play a crucial role in funding and in providing technical support for green projects.
