Making Finance Ministries Part of the Push for Net Zero Emissions
Finance ministries have wide-ranging power and influence, which makes them uniquely well-positioned to help lead the push toward net zero and a green transition. But too often they are not at the center of key climate discussions, and many finance ministries lack the expertise and capacity to drive climate action at the speed and scale required.
A new guide developed by the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action aims to help fill those gaps. It includes a new framework to help finance ministers mainstream climate into their ministries’ core functions, as well as offers recommendations on the broad-ranging changes needed to strengthen governance and leadership, coordination, and human and analytical capabilities.
Join CGD for a headline event featuring a presentation of this new guide and an important discussion on how finance ministries can take a leading role in the fight against climate change.
